Software engineering for ambitious companies
North Tech Labs designs and builds custom software, mobile applications, SaaS platforms, and AI systems — for companies that need a real engineering partner, not a template or a staffing pool.
Discuss Your ProjectWhat we build, and who we build it with
We build custom software, mobile applications, SaaS platforms, and applied AI systems — work organised around a business outcome, not a fixed technology stack chosen in advance. That covers everything from a first working product to platforms running critical operational workflows.
We work with companies across Sweden and the wider Nordic region, spanning established SMEs and industrial organisations, product and SaaS companies, and enterprise teams modernising an existing platform. There's no single company profile we're built for — the right engineering approach depends on what a business actually needs next, not on treating every engagement as a greenfield build.
A delivery model designed for cross-border work
North Tech Labs is a European software engineering organisation. We do not operate a Stockholm office, and we are not a Swedish or Nordic legal entity — we serve Nordic companies remotely, as an international engineering partner, with English-language communication throughout every engagement.
European delivery hours overlap substantially with Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Finland — a working day compatible with Nordic business hours, not an offshore hand-off model with minimal contact. Delivery is structured around documented architecture decisions and short, reviewable iterations, so a project stays legible to your team throughout, not just at the end.
Product and operational thinking, not just implementation
Software decisions rarely stop at code. We look at how a system fits the operational workflow around it — who uses it, what it replaces, and what happens if a dependency fails — because architecture that ignores that context tends to be technically correct and practically wrong.
That's also why we assess a project honestly before proposing an approach: understanding what already exists, what's genuinely required, and where the real uncertainty is, rather than committing to a scope and estimate before that's actually known.
Engineering principles
- Architecture matched to the problemTechnology and structure chosen for what the project actually needs, not a default template applied regardless of fit.
- Documentation as a deliverableArchitecture decisions and codebases documented well enough for another team to pick up later, not just for us to remember them.
- Quality assurance is a distinct disciplineTesting and review happen as a separate function from implementation, not as a final pass by the same person who wrote the code.
Transparent commercial collaboration
- Honest scope before estimationWe review what's actually being asked before committing to a timeline or budget, rather than pricing an undefined scope.
- Clear communication on trade-offsWhen a requirement has a real cost or risk trade-off, we say so directly instead of agreeing to everything upfront.
- Ownership stays with youSource code and documentation ownership follows what's agreed in each project's contract — clarified upfront, not left ambiguous.
Services
- AI AgentsWe design and build bounded AI agents — systems that plan and execute a limited, explicitly defined set of actions — with the tool scoping, approval gates, and decision logging needed to run them safely in production, not just in a demo.
- AI DevelopmentWe build applied AI systems — assistants, retrieval-augmented platforms, document processing, and controlled automation — engineered for production use, not just a demo.
- API Development & Systems IntegrationWe design APIs that expose your systems to partners, and build the integration layer that connects ERP, MES, WMS, TMS, and third-party platforms that were never designed to share data — built to keep working when the other side changes or goes down.
- Business Process AutomationWe build rule-based automation for approvals, document routing, data synchronisation, and system integrations — deterministic systems your team can test and reason about, with no AI where none is needed.
- Custom Software DevelopmentWe design and build operational platforms, customer portals, and business systems tailored to how your company actually works — with a codebase and documentation you own outright.
- Data Engineering & AnalyticsWe build the pipelines, warehouse, and validation layer that turn data scattered across systems, sensors, and spreadsheets into something you can report on and reconcile — plus the BI dashboards built on top of it.
- DevOps & Cloud InfrastructureWe build the CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and observability that turn shipping software from a manual, high-risk event into a routine, monitored process — working alongside your existing engineers, not replacing them.
- IoT & Connected Systems SoftwareWe build the software layer that ingests, processes, and acts on data from connected equipment, sensors, and field devices — designed to tolerate unreliable connectivity and integrate with the operational systems you already run.
- Legacy System ModernizationWe audit aging systems to find out what they actually do, then modernize them incrementally — replacing pieces behind a stable interface while the business keeps running on the current system until each piece is proven.
- Mobile App DevelopmentWe design and build iOS and Android applications for companies launching customer products, internal field tools, or a mobile extension of an existing platform, from architecture through store release and ongoing evolution.
- MVP DevelopmentWe build a scoped, working version of your product — enough to put in front of real users and test the core assumption — sized to an early-stage budget and timeline.
- SaaS DevelopmentWe build multi-tenant SaaS products — from data isolation and subscription billing to self-serve onboarding — engineered for many customers on one codebase, not a single-tenant system adapted after the fact.
- Team AugmentationWe add software engineers directly into your existing team, sprint process, and toolchain — extending your own capacity for a defined period, without spinning up a separately scoped project.
- Technical DiscoveryWe carry out independent architecture reviews, feasibility studies, technical due diligence, and system or vendor audits — assessments you can act on regardless of whether the outcome points toward building anything with us.
- UX/UI DesignWe run UX audits, redesigns, and design sprints as their own engagement — research, flows, and validated prototypes — so you get a design your team can build from, whether or not we're the ones who build it.
Nordic markets we serve
Sweden is our primary market, alongside Denmark, Norway, and Finland, and international clients beyond the region. Each market page below reflects the industries and project patterns that come up most often there — not a repeated template with the country name swapped.
